IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!!! The 3rd Annual V.O.I.C.E.S. BACK TO SCHOOL BLOCK PARTY & PEACE RALLY!!!

KICK off your day with the V.O.I.C.E.S. COMMUNITY GOLF CLASSIC!! @ Douglass Golf Course from 9a-12p for our 4 man Scramble!! BEER Garden, door prizes, and FREE Continental... Breakfast for participants!! REGISTER NOW!!!

This year will be the BEST yet!! TONS of community resource vendors, LIVE entertainment, Rock Climbing Wall, MOBILE Video Gaming Truck, LIVE bands, YOUTH performers, kid bounce houses AND more!!

**ATTENTION**

Hey all, sorry for not posting as much as usual, but V.O.I.C.E.S. has been extremely busy these past few months working on new and improved ways to impact the community. And as we gear up for next year we are reaching out to YOU... YES YOU! The POETS, ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, GRAPHIC DESIGNERS, AND LOVERS OF THE ARTS to help us do what we do best...Voice Our Issues & Concerns thru Expression of Self!

WE HAVE OPPORTUNITIES for the creative minds out there to facilitate CREATIVE ARTS workshops for a youth group ages 13-18. Your availability should be 2 to 3 days per week for at least 90 minutes a day. You should expect to have a range of creative control over your very own agenda, projects, and various methods you will imploy to reach and teach SELF EXPRESSION THRU ART (poetry, music, visual arts, etc...)

Life Skills facilitators may also apply.

Strengthening Families Program

V.O.I.C.E.S. is proud to announce that we are officially certified Strengthening Families Program providers. This will now be another service that V.O.I.C.E.S can provide to our community! 

Strengthening Families Program is a 14 session resiliency-based family skills training program. What is different from most parenting programs is that parents and children attend sessions together and learn skills that they practice together before going home to implement them. It offers three age-specific developmentally appropriate curriculums for families with children ages 3-5 children ages 6-11 and youth ages 12-16.


A typical weekly session includes a 1/2 hour family meal. Parents and children then meet for one hour in separate classes to learn parenting and social skills. The parent and children then rejoin for one hour to practice together the skill they learned in their separate sessions through fun and creative interactive activities. The skills taught include:

1. Parent Skills Training Group: Parents learn to build and increase positive time with children, manage stress, give clear directions, develop behavior change, hold family meetings, and use effective discipline.

2. Children’s Social Skills Training Group: Children learn communication skills, peer resistance, recognizing feelings consequences of substance abuse and other risky behavior, anger management, problem solving and dealing with criticism.

3. Family Skills Training Group: Parents and children practice together new skills learned in their separate groups such as parent/child bonding, communication, family organization, family management and problem solving.
